DBC's manufacturing and servicing facility in Delta, BC, Canada |
DBC's technical personnel actively participates in
the development and formulation of domestic and international marine
safety standards. Our strong commitment to improving marine safety keeps
DBC at the forefront of lifesaving product design.
Our manufacturing plant and head office, employing over 50 skilled
technicians and professional support staff, is located in Delta
(Vancouver), British Columbia. DBC has always been proud of maintaining
quality production staff who build and test each product to the highest
possible standards of quality and reliability. The company received
certification and compliance registration to ISO 9001 requirements in
1994. In addition, we continue to maintain Transport Canada
Airworthiness Certification for overhaul and distribution of lifesaving
equipment and appliances to the aviation industry.
DBC has developed a full range of liferafts to meet Coast Guard
(Canadian and United States) and international specifications and
standards (S.O.L.A.S.) as adopted by the International Maritime
Organization (I.M.O.).
DBC was the first North American liferaft manufacturer to successfully
complete testing and obtain CCG and USCG approvals for both the
50-person liferaft and the 100-person platform to S.O.L.A.S.
specifications. In addition to our own designs, we have developed,
tested and manufactured marine and aviation liferafts for the Department
of National Defence.
We received Canadian Coast Guard approval for the Marine Evacuation
Chute System (MEC) in 1989 and have continued development to ensure that
the most current requirements of I.M.0. to S.O.L.A.S. are met. DBC
recently completed the S.O.L.A.S approval testing of the MEC for the
United States Coast Guard, in accordance with the most recent I.M.0.
regulations and standards; we're the first company in North America to
obtain this approval.
Our major customers are North American ferry operators (including
British Columbia Ferry Corporation - the world's largest ferry operator,
Marine Atlantic, Northumberland Ferries, Ontario Northland, Alaska
Marine Highways, Cape May Lewis Ferries, Washington State Ferries),
North American shipyards and fishing companies. Other customers include
various federal and provincial government departments and agencies such
as the Department of National Defence, Ministry of Highways, and
Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
In addition to designing, manufacturing and selling marine lifesaving
equipment, DBC is an approved liferaft service station for various types
of liferafts including RFD, DSB, Toyo, and Beaufort liferafts.
DBC trains and certifies government Coast Guard personnel and liferaft
technicians to service DBC liferafts.
